Man of Steel!

Okay, Jerry had a major dental surgery on Thursday. The molar breaks into parts and has to be extracted piece by piece. The broken file that exited the molar and lodged itself into flesh, had to be extracted. Nasty, nasty bone has to be remove. (I don't want to think about how that was done!) Then they used ground up sterile human bone in a paste to fill in the space where bone used to be, covered it all with a membrane, and held it in place with FIFTY stitches. Jerry said he was in unbelievable pain during the procedure. He had so much Novocaine that he was shaking afterward. But he would not let me drive him home, get his pain pill prescription, nada. But I could buy ice cream and jello.

But here is the truly amazing event: He went to bed with only an Aleve for pain. It is now Monday and he has still had nothing but antibiotics and Aleve.

The Man of Steel is working at his own pace in the basement creating my "Studio." A neighbor thinks we are crazy, and maybe we are. But Jerry feels our home is secure. Oh, Feb. 2nd we are going to our mandatory meeting at Cascade Middle School hosted by Longview and the County to discuss the fate of our neighborhood. The neighbor just above us is fixing the culvert that he plugged up. We still have to see what will happen with the home owner just above him who is draining water out a pipe directly onto two homes....including ours. More later on that.

I went to a great workshop in Portland today. My cohort Patti is a wonderful presenter for BER. I have been to two of her YA literature sessions, but today was the first time I attended her library programming workshop. It was predictably excellent.
