Jerry's progress....in more way than one!

First, Jerry has been busy working in the evenings on my STUDIO downstairs. As you can see from the photo, he is the god of wood. Yep! After the nasty flood in January, cleaning up, saving our wheat, and tearing out damaged flooring and drywall he is on the downhill run of creating the skeleton of my STUDIO. I think STUDIO is the best word. It is going to be so big compared to what I had. He has made the cutest bookcase, made birch shelves for an open bracket shelf unit, and is making very cool window surrounds. The door that exits to our backyard is one-of-a-kind. Everything has fluted trim, with rosette corners on the top. He is going to make the old cupboards look great, on the cheap. I have been getting little storage things for the open shelves. I think it will be really cute! One of my best buy finds were some black frames in which you can slip and store photos. So I am going to hang some of my fave photos in them for wall decor. It will be nice to have my quilting and scrapping out of storage. I am way, way behind on Ben's quilt.

He had demon tooth #2 and is having a procedure on it next Tuesday. The dentist and oral surgeon suspect that the damage in both cases is due to having braces later in life. Oh joy!

He also had a nasty procedure involving rubber bands and discomfort and 10-14 days until the problems drop off. Janene asks him how the brain surgery has gone. Funny girl.

On to more appealing subjects! My visiting author, Jay Asher, is arriving on Sunday. Actually, he and his wife are in Portland with her relatives right now. She is flying home Sunday and he is dining with me and the English teachers that night. Monday is his busy day of talk, talk, talk. Kids have signed up, Carla has made all the Excel sheets of who really is excused, and we are off! Time to stop worrying. Whoo hoo!!!

I am traveling to Southern CA after he leaves to help my daughter after surgery. It will be wonderful to defuse with her and visit. I am going to see what she will promise me when groggy. Eternal servitude, or something good like that.

Wow, this is impressive. Nice work, Jerry. Also Dan adds his Wow to that. I didstinctly heard a comment about Tyler's room and 'something like that', so thanks again-it's a start. Benita

I didn't mention it before, but if you look closely at the door you will see that the surround is on a 45 degree or so angle. The builder of our home had the room waaaaay out of square! Joan

That sounds like really painful recovery. I'll say a prayer that all goes well. Hope you get a little rest from your big adventure. I still can't believe how involved that was. Or that you'd want to write another grant soon! I'm taking a day off this week because I can't focus on the Procert presentation for Saturday with everything going on at school. Benita
