In February Jerry received his 15 YEARS pin at an awards meeting. It is hard to believe that much time has gone by since he started in the school district! How nice to get a recognition of service. I have taught 23 years and our principal does not even give lip-service to Teachers' Week, much less Librarian's Week (last week of April each year). Only once in 23 years has any one remembered that one. One time they tried to give me a gift during classified's week, but most of the time they remembered that I was a teacher. No wonder librarians are forgotten! Sheesh!!!
But I do birdie-walk from Jerry's pin. The district also gave him a 10-year pin and certificate. I think that is really nice. It does take so little to make those in education happy. My first principal said, "A compliment will take a teacher 6 months."
