Flu Shot Blues

I was so proud.

I arrived at Kaiser the first day of flu shots. Sure, I was the last of the day, but I made it under the wire! That was Saturday the 18th. By Wednesday Jerry called to say that the flu serum was bad. Rats!

Today the school district offered flu shots from 6 - 9 AM, free, from Kaiser. I showed up at 7 AM, far too long of a line. I returned at 8:50 and the line was much better. Friends from other schools were there. Oh, I was on my prep period and could get away from the library, btw. So I am visiting with those around me and a gal directly behind me said that she thought she should get in front of me so I wouldn't have to talk through her to the next person. Sounded great! This was such a better line than at Kaiser itself! It was moving. There were no elderly folk there, if you don't count me. We are just a few people away from getting poked when the PR gal came out to us and counted, "One, Two, Three." Her hand came down between me and the gal who was NOW in front of me. We all stared at her. "Whaaat???" (That was a pitiful "what.") So, I gave cuts, missed out on my second attempt at the shot, lost an hour of my only prep period, and have to go to Kaiser again.

In the eternal scheme of things, this isn't a huge trial. But it is an irritant and worth venting on my blog. Lucky you! :-) I will try again tomorrow when I go in for another X-ray on my back. The neurologists want another one to compare to the one in July 2007.
