Leaving Disneyland, er, the ALA Conference....

Well, my last post about the ALA Conference. The night before we were to fly out of SNA and were trying to fit everything into mailer boxes or luggage, I decided that all the treats I packed to survive between meals was NOT traveling home with me. What to do with the stuff? Suddenly I heard a toddler expressing angst. Loudly. I opened the door and discovered the source across the hall. I closed the door, packed the almonds, yogurt treats, Fibre bars into a plastic bag and lurked behind the door so as not to scare them away when they came out, unsuspecting. (I had definitely gone to Disneyland too much as I wondered if they would think I was the wicked queen/witch with tainted apples.... It's good we left when we did!) Anyway, the unsuspecting young family came out the door, toddler appeased and in the stroller, harried mom, two youngsters and dad bringing up the rear. I excused myself, said I was a librarian packing up from my librarian conference, and didn't have room for the treats. Would they like them? Dad was all for it, and Mom was once she saw my dewey decimal numbers on my forehead. I gave him the bag, he turned to key the door, and realized that he locked them out. So we hung the bag on the door, and off they went.

Patti looked at me and said, "I can't believe that you did that." "What," I said, "free goodies for kids? They were thrilled." And I have less to pack!
