Peninsula Dining Recommmends

Here are a few restaurants, and I will update. Sadly, I have to report that Bubba's Pizza has removed their sign. That only means one thing...his health has deteriorated more. Benita and I also found The Beach House Cafe GONE! I think the chef was lured to another restaurant... Janet is going to ferret out the story for me. I will pass it on as soon as I hear.

1. Bailey's Bakery & Café
26910 Sandridge Rd - Nahcotta
360.665.4449

Only open for breakfast and lunch Thursdays through Monday. Yum. The owner worked for the defunct Ark, and she is EXCELLENT!!! I had a panini made with an Italian spiced ham, mozarrella, pickled onions and a basil dressing. Yum! Benita's "cheese sandwich" was unlike any we've seen with two cheeses, tomato and avocado. Great prices. The chowder is watery, but the clams are tender.

2. Long Beach Thai Cuisine
1003 Pacific Ave N - Long Beach
360.642.2557

THE freshest and most unique Thai food I have ever had. Only complaint is that the homemade mango ice cream MUST return to the menu! If you want something very unusual try the basil asparagus dish. I did have a bad experience last week: Half a jalapeno pepper was in my dish and I though it was a slice of green pepper. The owner said it must have fallen in on the way to another dish. Yeow! The parrot fish are always entertaining to watch. Great prices.

3. Cottage Bakery & Deli
118 Pacific Ave S - Long Beach
360.642.4441

BAKERY, BAKERY, BAKERY: Wow! The stunning selection is all tasty. When do these people sleep? Funny thing, this has been around long before I went to the beach as a child, but I had not gone in until 2 summers ago. GREAT chowder. Best tomato and tuna/pepper jack salad, wish they would serve it again. We had a really cranky lady making our sandwiches on Monday. The food was still good, but it was not as much fun as in the past. Great prices.
