Jerry and I actually went on a vacation! We sat in the office a few months ago and I was planning the trip to Ashland: 4 plays, cheap motel to help justify the ticket prices, and contacting Lisa to see what she was doing. I told Jerry the dates, the plays, the motel. He muttered something like "sounds good" but he was obviously more engrossed in some building item he discovered on CraigsList. I say that because when I said, "Tickets bought!" he really perked up, wondering what tickets!?!?!
Anyway, we had a great time. It is a blessing that we both like Shakespeare and like to talk about our opinions about the plays. We attended a funky version of Midsummer Night's Dream, Othello (which Jerry says IS the best he has seen), The Clay Cart (a 2000 year old Indian social play) and a western version of A Comedy of Errors. It was my favorite. Though I have to say, the fairies in MND were pretty funny.
The greatest discovery was the ENDERS connection in Ashland. He was a developer who had a business building downtown, a home that became a hospital then a B&B, an alley named after him, and the Enders Shelter in Lythia Park. We just had to eat at the Winchester Inn (the B&B). When I made the reserv. the girl said, "Ooooh, that is a name we like here!" :-)
Oh, the shelter that Jerry is leaning on is the Enders Shelter in Lythia Park. It is pretty rustic and in need of repair.
We visited Lisa and didn't think to snap some photos. She has worked hard at clearing a virtual botanical garden around her new home!
